Microsoft Windows
- Step 1 : Download GNU Octave installer and install.
- Step 2 : Download Xoctave Demo installer and install.
You can skip step 1 if you already have GNU Octave installed. In this case, GNU Octave path should be manually set to Xoctave.
Mac OS
- Step 1 : Download GNU Octave installer and install using one of your favorite package manager.
- Step 2 : Download Xoctave Demo installer and install.
- Step 3 : Run Xoctave and set the GNU Octave path.
Lets say, GNU Octave is installed in {INSTALL DIR}="/Applications/Octave.app" then put /Applications/Octave.app to the where is Octave? box. Xoctave assumes that GNU Octave binary file is located at {INSTALL DIR}/Contents/Resources/bin/octave. If you have GNU installed to a different folder please make sure that Octave executable file is properly placed.
You can skip step 1 if you already have GNU Octave installed. Please use /Applications/octave.app when you set GNU Octave path for Xoctave.
Linux
- Step 1 :Download GNU Octave installer package and install for your distro.
- Step 2 : Download Xoctave Demo installer and install.
For debian based OS, you can use "$sudo apt-get install octave" to download and install. You can also compile GNU Octave from source. Please follow the instructions provided in this Xoctave blog post. You can skip step 1 if you already have GNU Octave installed.
Note: Xoctave Demo software is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX Platforms. The Xoctave Demo requires internet access.
Limitations
The demo limitations include:
- Process Interruption [SIGINT] is not avaiable.
- Up to five scripts can be used at the same time.
- Xoctave Demo needs internet connection at startup.
- Printing is not available.
